This will be a short comedy drama lasting around 10 minutes. It is being filmed as part of my Television Production course at Glasgow Metropolitan College.
Synopsis
----------
Opens with a student walking along a street who hears someone shouting at him from the other side of the road. He looks over and is surprised to see it's a middle aged man wearing a kilt, Scotland football shirt and a Glengarry kilt hat. After the student waves back, the man crosses the road to shake hands and introduces himself as Clarence Hargreaves, or 'Kilt Man', before revealing he is actually from Leeds and is English. He notices the student is eating a pack of sweets and begins telling of how he was bullied for sweeties when he was a child.
We then see the young version of Kilt Man eating some sweeties. A bigger boy named Rodney Eccles approaches and demands some sweeties. After Young Kilt Man refuses, Rodney beats him up and steals sweets out his pocket. Kilt Man explains that eventually he was giving away all his weekly allowance of sweeties so we see him go to his mother asking for more. She refuses and young kilt man runs away crying out of fear of what Rodney will do. Kilt Man explains that he is a pacifist but the fear in him that day made something snap. Young Kilt Man is seeing looking around with a worried look on his face when Rodney approaches and asks for more sweeties. Young Kilt Man begins shouting that he's had enough of being bullied and headbutts Rodney who falls to the ground crying.
Kilt Man then explains that although he is not violent, one of his friends, Big Rab is.
Kilt Man and Big Rab are seen sitting on a bench in a park when a midget approaches a woman sitting on another bench and asks her if she will be in a porno with him. Big Rab hears this and approaches the midget, shouting at him. The midget becomes scared at the man twice his size and apologizes but Big Rab lifts up the midget by the throat and headbutts him. Kilt Man suggests they leave before the police arrive and the midget is left laying on the park path.
After this story the student is bored and is staring at the ground. Kilt Man thinks he is actually looking at his kilt and explains how he became Kilt Man. Kilt Man is next in flashback, having a shower at his girlfriends house when he realises he needs a towel. She passes him a novelty kilt towel and when he emerges from the bathroom with the towel round his waist, Super Man music plays and he examines himself in the mirror.
Kilt Man then tells the student how he gave up his life in England to move to Scotland due to his new found love of the country, and now has found a place of his own. He is then seen in a messy living room watching Braveheart on TV while bouncing up and down on a sofa. A trance song with lyrics 'haggis, neeps and tatties' plays on the stereo and he eats the meal and drinks Buckfast and Tennents.
After this, Kilt Man tells the student how he applied for Scottish nationalism but was told it wasn't possible. His stomach rumbles, so he says he'd better go get something to eat and walks away along the street leaving student wondering what has just happened.
As credits role we see student walking along a different street as he hears a knock on a window. He looks up and sees Kilt Man sitting at a table in a restaurant, waving at him. The student quickly waves back and rushes away leaving Kilt Man to eat his meal, while looking around the room, smiling vacantly.

Kilt Man
Males, aged 35 to 55 from the United Kingdom
Actor must be capable of a comedy performance and be prepared to get a bit cold while wearing a kilt and t-shirt on exterior shoots. Character is slightly senile and very jolly. The nudity mentioned is only topless, a kilt towel worn from the waist.

Student
Males, aged 20 to 25 from the United Kingdom
This role can be filled by almost any male in the age group. Just has to look like an average student and does not speak at all, just reacts.

Big Rab
Males, aged 21 to 40 from the United Kingdom
Must be tall and tough-looking, able to pull off a hard-man role. Few lines of dialogue in which character shouts loudly then lifts a smaller actor up to head height.

Woman
Females, aged 18 to 99 from the United Kingdom
Looks or age are not particularly important for this role. No lines for the part, just has to act shocked at the events in the park.
|
Midget
Males, aged 14 to 50 from the United Kingdom
Seeing as a midget is not very likely to audition, the role will also be open to young teenagers, preferably small to show a contrast in height to the Big Rab actor.

Hannah
Females, aged 30 to 50 from the United Kingdom
Least important role of the production. May not even be seen on screen. Looks are not important.
