Male and female actors needed for tropfest short film shooting in NSW
It’s the spring of 1851. The sun is shining, a calm zephyr is blowing, flowers are blooming. And people are dying.
Two inspectors set out to pay a visit to an old sociopathic hermit in his cottage miles deep into a secluded forest. He’s a poison-maker, well known by the women of high society who frequent his hut in order to exchange sexual favours for a special, untraceable elixir only available in spring. The inspectors believe that, although he isn’t directly associated with the murders that occur in the bourgeois courts, the best way to solve the problem is to get to the root of it and put the old man away for good. Their fatal visit proves that before we set out to cleanse society, we must first start with those closest to us...

The Poison-Maker
Males, aged 55 to 60 from New South Wales, Aus
Thin, able, and aged in his late 50s to early 60s. Craftiness is discernable under a veneer of an innocent old man. He makes poisons and sells them to bitter and vengeful women in exchange for sexual favours. Preferably with a French accent.

The Thin Inspector
Males, aged 27 to 38 from New South Wales, Aus
30 or so, thin and lean, with a sharp countenance and severe disposition, although the stress of law enforcement shows in his eyes and his face. He is dedicated to what he does, a sort of Philip Marlowe character, and believes that one should always strive for justice.

The Fat Inspector (Clarence)
Males, aged 30 to 40 from New South Wales, Aus
30-40, Rotund, a compulsive cigar smoker, imbecillic, naive and hot-headed. Almost like a child next to the Thin Inspector. He's something of a sidekick, albeit a useless one.

The Thin Inspectors Wife (Non Speaking)
Females, aged 20 to 28 from New South Wales, Aus
20s, attractive in her own way, but not sexy or gorgeous. Naive, impulsive and youthful. She can be at times seductive and at others simply a fumbling housewife rushing to get dinner on the table. Remember this is the Victorian Era; repression abounds and many people suffered the insanity that comes with repressed individuality. Note: Nudity in this role is not explicit or anything like that.

Anne-Marie (Non Speaking)
Females, aged 19 to 25 from New South Wales, Aus
A young, beautiful and reckless girl. She's the product of an arranged marriage, shattered dreams, and is being cheated on.
