“Divine Interruption” 7 minute short film for festivals, shooting in Melbourne 16-17th February
A commentary on the part religion sometimes plays in society, “Divine Interruption” is a seven-minute short film that sees the attempt of a burglar to rob a suburban family home interrupted when two Mormons arrive at the door.
We are currently seeking actors to play each of the following characters:
Burglar:
--------
Uninterested in what Mormons have to say at the best of times, the Burglar is particularly angry when they interrupt his attempt to burgle the Wilson family home. He is forced to take drastic measures when they refuse to take no for an answer. We are seeking a male aged 25-30 years for this role, required for a total of two shooting days.
Elder Baery and Elder Lee:

On their first Mission for the Church, Elder Baery and Elder Lee are trying their hardest to spread the good news. Remaining polite and pleasant at all times, these Mormons don’t realise why the Burglar doesn’t want them around, and continue to try and convince the Burglar to give them some of his time to discuss it. We are seeking two males who are or appear 19-21 years of age for this role, required for one full shooting day and two half-days.
The Wilson Family:

We first meet the Wilson family, tied up and gagged inside their home, as the Burglar goes about collecting their valuables. While at first they are scared and angry with the Burglar, they soon find there may be an advantage to this situations when Mormons come knocking. We are seeking a woman aged 35-50 to play the character of Brenda Wilson, a male aged 35-50 to play the character of Geoffrey Wilson, and a woman aged 16-18 to play the character of Tamara Wilson, required for one full shooting day.
Shoot and Audition Details:

“Divine Interruption” will be shot on Super 16mm, and is a co-production between current and recently graduated students from the RMIT Media, Swinburne Film & TV, Melbourne Uni Media and Communications and VCA Honours courses.
The film will be shot in metropolitan Melbourne, with shooting dates scheduled for the 16th and 17th of February, with an extra half-day shoot the following Sunday. The film will be entered into several film festivals and distributed online as part of a resource for developing filmmakers. All actors participating in the project will also receive a copy of the film or DVD, as well as a Quicktime version they may use as part of their show reels.

Auditions for the lead characters will be held in approximately two weeks time. All applications will be responded to promptly, and those invited to audition will receive a copy of the script a minimum of one week prior to their audition date.

NB: These are volunteer roles only, however all actors will be treated with respect, will be well informed, well fed and will have footage or finished film delivered promptly at the end of the production. Any production related costs incurred by actors will be reimbursed.
